Management in museums: Elba Aranda de Sarango case, Paita, Peru

Museums are important for the development of tourism and allow them to transmit the historical legacy of several generations. The objective of the study is to identify the profile of the visitors and explore the management of the Elba Aranda de Sarango museum, Paita Peru. This is an exploratory and descriptive research based on a mixed approach. A simple random probability sampling was carried out and a sample of 341 surveyed visitors was obtained. The study points out that the management of the museum focuses on the planning, organization, motivation and control of the institution. 54% of the respondents visited the museum for the first time, the majority of the visitors are men and within the complementary activities 23% observe the customs, 18% prefer to try the food of the place and 34% explore the huaca. 48.7% prefer to visit the museum with their family or friends, 65% belong to an educational group, 43% belong to ages between 20-29 years, 63.6% have a higher level of university education and 42.5% indicate that they are very satisfied with the journey they took.
