The tourism marketing of Spanish world heritage cities
Keywords:
Marketing, tourism, City humanity heritage, Heritage, comunicationAbstract
Despite the relevance of the tourist marketing of the Spanish World Heritage Cities, it was never studied. Hence, it was decided to propose it as an object of study, which was investigated with qualitative and quantitative methodology through its tourist websites. The first was used to describe it through exploratory analysis as an approach to the subject and content analysis to determine the tourism marketing strategies, the complementarity of cultural tourism and the communication actions of those places. However, the quantitative methodology was used to know what its main target audience was.
Consequently, it was concluded that demographics was the main characteristic used by the cities investigated to establish their target audiences, these being children and people with disabilities.
In addition, it has been verified that the most promoted cultural tourism is gastronomic, and that it is usually complemented by other types such as nature and MICE. As for communication strategies, several deficiencies have been detected, such as the scant updating of the websites for continuing to include obsolete RR.SS., non-adequacy of RR.SS. to the target audience and the little importance given to tourist offices.
